A dense fog advisory through 11 this morning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Peachtree City. What to know:

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Across much of the state, including Northwest Georgia.
  • Expect hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

OUTLOOK

There is a chance of thunderstorms across the area today into Friday. There is some potential for wintry precipitation in north Georgia for the weekend, mainly Saturday night into Sunday.

Thursday appears to be a washout with at least 1.5 inches of rain stretching into early Friday.

FORECAST

Wednesday: Areas of drizzle and fog before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 66. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 7am. High near 63. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 43. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 53.

Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.
