Thompson won re-election by a 70%-30% margin over Democrat Travis Johnson on Nov. 3. The 14th Senate district includes much of Bartow County, some of Cherokee County and a small cut into Cobb County.

Rosemary Greene named superior court judge: Cherokee District Attorney Rosemary Greene has been named a superior court judge to the Cherokee Judicial Circuit by Gov. Brian Kemp. Greene holds a bachelor’s degree from LaGrange College and law degree from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law. She previously served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Blue Ridge and Cherokee Judicial Circuits. She also was the District Attorney for the Cherokee Judicial Circuit from 2013-2021. She is married to her husband, Mark, and she has two children: Stan and Mary. Greene will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable David K. Smith. The Cherokee Judicial Circuit is comprised of Bartow and Gordon Counties.
