Monday:

  • 85 deaths so far in Northwest Georgia in January sets pandemic record. The month; region has recorded 464 deaths since March 15 and 47 probable deaths.
  • 110 COVID patients at Floyd, Redmond Regional as of Monday, down 19. Pandemic record: 163 on Jan. 6, 2021.
  • 53 deaths in Georgia in last 24 hours. Total now at 11,854. State’s “probable deaths” estimate: 1,449. Daily COVID record deaths: 170 on Jan. 19.
  • Statewide: 3,559 new cases. Total now: 722,062. State record: 10,379 new cases on Jan. 8.
  • 99 new positive cases in past 24 hours in NW Georgia. Record: 404 on Jan. 22.

  • Gordon County: Tuesday at the Senior Center, 150 Cambridge Court, Calhoun, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Polk County:  Free COVID-19 rapid testing is available at the Polk County Health Department. No appointment necessary. However, by appointment for symptomatic people only. They should call the health department at 770-749-2270 for an appointment.
