Mrs. Louise Chandler Sutton, age 95, went home to be with her Lord on January 21, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harry Sutton to whom she was married for 54 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mr. J.W. Herschel Chandler, and Mrs. Ila Vann Chandler, and her sister, Mrs. Florence C. Jordan.

Mrs. Sutton graduated from Girls High School in Rome, and earned her B.S. degree from Tennessee Polytechnical Institute. She later earned her M.A. and Ed.S. degrees from George Peabody College in Nashville. Mrs. Sutton was a faithful pastor’s wife who served many churches with her husband in Tennessee and Georgia. She was also an educator for many years, teaching at McEwen High School in McEwen, Tennessee, and Rome Junior High for eight years before beginning her teaching career at Coosa Valley Tech (now Georgia Northwestern Technical College) in Rome for 29 years.

When she was at public restaurants, shopping or other public places, a former student would often recognize her and greet her with the comment, “you were my favorite teacher.” Mrs. Sutton loved to travel, and did so extensively to sites around the world as well as domestically. She also loved to dance and did so until she was 91 years of age.

Mrs. Sutton is survived by her brother, William Chandler (Sadie) of Dechard, Tn., nieces, Kathi Jacabozzi (Ken) of Fisher, IN, Linda Astin (Tom) of Rome, and nephews, Jimmy Jordan (Wanda), and Richard Chandler of Rome. She is also survived by six great-nieces, and nephews, and eight great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staffs of Brookdale Assisted Living Community and Winthrop Health and Rehab for their loving assistance and care for Mrs. Louise C. Sutton.

Dr. Larry Gene Davis, age 84, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at his residence.

Dr. Davis was born in Polk County, GA on March 14, 1936, son of the late James Owen Davis, Sr. and the late Vera Pauline Rudeseal Davis.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 64 years, Juanita Jones Davis, by an infant son, Larry Carthel Davis, by a great granddaughter, Ada Ryan Burk, by a sister, Jennie Ruth Davis Robinson, by a brother, Sherman Davis, and by a special aunt, Myrt Rudeseal.

Brother Larry, as he was affectionately known by many of us, received his calling to ministry at the age of 17.  Following his ordination at Wimberly Hill Baptist Church in Cedartown, Brother Larry accepted his first Pastoral appointment at Dugdown Baptist Church in Haralson County. Over the years, he served as Pastor at Wimberly Hill Baptist Church in Cedartown, Fairview Baptist Church in Rockmart twice, East Rome Baptist Church twice, Mt Carmel Baptist Church in Ft. Payne, AL twice, and White Oak Springs Baptist Church in Dallas.  He also served at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Lafayette, Piney Grove Baptist Church in Acworth, and New Prospect Baptist Church in Rockmart, prior to his retirement.  After an undergraduate degree from Covenant College, Dr. Davis received his Doctoral degree from Liberty University. Dr. Davis served as After-Care Minister for Henderson & Sons Funeral Homes for several years prior to his retirement.  He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Rockmart.

Survivors include his 2 daughters, Kaye Davis Trovillion (Greg), Rockmart, and Traci Davis Hayes (Rodney), Rockmart; his son, Barry Davis (Penny), Cedartown; 7 grandchildren, Amy Dutton (Kevin), Jennifer Smith (Josh), Sean Sweeney, Ryan Burk (Taylor), Dylan Trovillion (Hallie Crete), Sarah Trovillion, and Allison Burk; 5 great grandchildren, Emma and Ivey Smith, Landon and Halie Dutton, and Aiden Burk; 2 sisters, Annie Lee Davis Cauthen, Cedartown, and Elaine Davis Henderson, Acworth; a brother, Rev. James Owen “Bud” Davis, Jr., Cedartown; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at 3pm at New Prospect Baptist Church in Rockmart, GA with his Pastor, the Rev. Jason Purser officiating.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed.  Private interment will follow in Northview Cemetery, Cedartown.

The family will receive friends at New Prospect Baptist Church on Sunday from 1pm until the service hour.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Pallbearers will include the following gentlemen:  Sean Sweeney, Dylan Trovillion, Ryan Burk, Kevin Dutton, Josh Smith, Greg Trovillion, Landon Dutton, and Rodney Hayes.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mission:Dignity at missiondignity.org.

The family extends a special thanks to Regency Hospice, especially to their nurse, Jessica Herndon, for their ministry during this difficult time.

Jack Daniel Pullen, age 77 of Portland, Oregon, passed away Thursday January 21, 2021 in a local hospital.
Mr. Pullen was born August 18, 1943, in Boston, Ga. a son of the late Ernest S. Pullen and Alvader J. Stephens Pullen. He was employed by the Federal Government for 35 years, and worked at the VA Hospital in Portland, Oregon and the VA Nursing Home in Vancouver, Washington. Mr. Pullen loved his family, traveling, camping, fishing, and hunting. All Children loved Mr. Pullen and he was adopted by many as an honorary uncle. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Steven Ernest Pullen.
Survivors include his brothers, John A. (Joyce) Pullen, Frank A. (Barbara) Pullen, sisters, Emma C. Pullen, and Mary Jane Pullen Yates, nieces, Cheryl Volker, Sharon Patricia Pullen, Holly Bierberich, nephews, John Scott Pullen, and David Wooten, numerous great and great great nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday January 25, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 4526 Big Texas Valley Road NW Rome, Ga. with Rev. Brian Butler, officiating.
