Georgia Power crews are working to restore power to some 328 customers off Kingston Highway (Hwy. 293) near Wilshire Road after a single-vehicle crashed into a power pole near Sequoia Drive. Sgt. Dustin Wade with Floyd County Police says a vehicle was traveling northbound on 293 toward GA Loop-1 (Rome Bypass) when his car struck the power pole and guidelines near Sequoia Drive. Wade says it is believed the driver of the vehicle (a male) had a medical issue that caused him to crash. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
As of 8:30 p.m., the roadway has reopened by crews are working in the area. The Georgia Power outage map lists an estimated restoration time of 11:45 p.m.
