Most area schools are closed Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and the timing is critical. Every school system is reporting a surge in cases and both Floyd County and Rome schools reported record quarantines as the week ended. Rome Schools plan to return to in-person teaching on Tuesday. Floyd Schools are off Tuesday for a student holiday (parent-teacher conferences). Chattooga schools are online again this week through Jan. 22.
Berry College students complete return to campus on Monday. All students returning are required to show a negative PCR test for COVID that was taken within three to five days of arrival. Berry’s first day of classes is Tuesday.
- So far in January: 10 student cases, 5 staff. Quarantined: 44.
