Monday: Floyd Board of Education work session to discuss ‘all possibilities and suggestions related to the closing of Cave Spring Elementary and Glenwood Primary’ at 8:15 a.m. work session. The meeting is open to all. It will be held in the central office.
Later Monday: The Floyd Board of Education will meet for its regular meeting. Two school closings, board elections section are on the agenda for the meeting set for 5:30 p.m. at the Coosa High School auditorium. On the agenda are votes to close both Cave Spring Elementary and Glenwood Primary schools following the 2021-22 school year.
Public hearings were held on both proposed closings earlier this month.
Also on the agenda: Electing a chair and vice chair (Dr. Tony Daniel and Dr. Melinda Strickland currently serve in those posts). The caucus will be at 4:30 in the CHS green room and the board meeting will be at 5:30 in the auditorium.
Reminder: The Mount Berry Trail is closed to the public today through Jan. 22. Atlanta Gas Light contractors will be performing work on a pipeline project. Work also will begin the first week of January at Ridge Ferry Park, but complete closure of this park is not anticipated.
Tuesday: Runoff for the U.S. Senate and Public Service Commission. Precincts are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Expanded story.
Thursday: The Rome-Floyd Planning Commission will meet via Zoom at 2:30 p.m. for their monthly meeting. The agenda has not yet been released.
Saturday: Bring One for the Chipper from 10 a.m. to noon at Home Depot in Rome.
