Mr. Daniel Edward Comer Sr., age 74, of Rome, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Comer was born in Floyd County, GA, on September 27, 1946, son of the late Alvin Hanks Comer and the late Sarah Ophelia Hardin Comer.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Ann Comer.  Before his retirement, Mr. Comer was employed by Georgia Power for over 35 years where he worked in fleet services.  He was a member of the NRA and the Excalibur Car Club.  Mr. Comer was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Comer, Cartersville; 2 sons, Daniel Comer, Jr. (Susan), Rome, and Chris Comer (Tiffany), Rome; 4 grandchildren, Josh Comer, Madison Haney, Kaleigh Comer and Logan Comer, all of Rome; his sister, Bonnie Beatrice Watson, Rome; his uncle, Wayne Comer; nephew, John Hendrix (Wanda); cousins, Dewayne Comer and Laney Crews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Brooks officiating.  Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1pm until 2:45pm at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Pallbearers are requested to assemble on Wednesday at 2:30pm at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include:  Chris Comer, Josh Comer, John Hendrix, Daniel Barnett, Billy Barnett and Charlie Barnett.


 

Mrs. Annie Lucille Pierce Alexander, age 85, of Lindale, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at her residence.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Floyd County, GA, on November 17, 1935, daughter of the late George Washington Pierce and the late Minnie Lee Sprouse Pierce.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by 3 siblings, Cleo Harris, Polly Williams and Russell Pierce.  Mrs. Alexander was a graduate of Johnson High School.  Before her retirement, she worked in Central Supply for Floyd Medical Center.  Mrs. Alexander was a member of Sunny Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Traci Jones Ledford, Lindale, Nancy Dianne Rogers (Chad), Rome, and Debra Lynn Jones, Rome; 2 sons, Kenneth Eugene Jones (Jody), Cave Spring, and Timothy Lee Jones (Leila), Americus, GA; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ruth Rutledge, Rome; nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Alexander will be cremated and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Donna Faye Davis Blanton, age 84 of Big Texas Valley passed away Wednesday December 30, 2020 at her residence.
Mrs. Blanton was born November 27, 1936 in Floyd County a daughter of the late Howard Forrest Davis, and Opal Elizabeth Carnes Davis. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, and a homemaker. Mrs. Blanton love going on mission trips, where she went on one to the Holy Land, she also loved bird watching, horses and Collie Dogs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Blanton, son Daryl Blanton, granddaughter, Jessica Paige Blanton.
Survivors include son and daughter in law, Trent and Kathy Blanton, brothers, Ray Davis, Johnny (Jo Ann) Davis, grandchildren, Tera Hyde, Daryl Forrest Blanton, Crystal Marie Morrison, Kimberly Dawn Dockery, great grandchildren, Devin Hollingsworth, Paige Hyde, Amy Dockery, Brennan Morrison, Reannan Woodring, Trentan Carter, Rilynn June Blanton, several nieces nephews also survive.
Due to Covid-19 a private service was on Saturday January 2, at Antioch Baptist Church, with Greg Free and Rev. Brian Butler, officiating. Interment was in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
