A motorcyclist was killed in a Saturday afternoon crash in Cartersville. Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton confirms Daniel Michael Klein, 52, of Kennesaw, Ga., was killed in the crash when his motorcycle collided with vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Kelli Clark Court in Cartersville. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Georgia State Patrol:

A 17-year-old girl from Kennesaw was driving a Nissan Altima north on U.S. 41 while Daniel M. Klein, on a Harley Davidson, was traveling in the same direction. Crowell stopped in the roadway and attempted to make a U-turn from the left lane, causing the motorcycle to strike the rear of her vehicle. The impact tossed Klein from the motorcycle and he landed at the intersection of Kelli Clark Court. Both vehicles came to uncontrolled stops. The state patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is continuing the investigation. The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m.

The fatality is the 10th statewide so far over the New Year Holiday traffic weekend that began Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. and ends tonight at midnight.
