The following is from initial police reports from the shooting:
Rome Police are investigating an early morning shooting on Dec. 23 that left one man injured with a shot to the back of the head — a victim who inititally refused his family’s demands that he go to the hospital.
The shooting apparently took place outside the Sunoco station at 2039 Maple Ave. following a disturbance between some men who were in the game room earlier in the morning. Shell casings from the shooting scene had been gathered by relatives and later were given to police.
The victim had gone to his father’s house following his wounding. His father told him to get medical care by the victim refused; additional relatives were called to the house and finally convinced him to get treatment. The victim’s vehicle had three bullet holes in it as well. Police were summoned to Floyd Medical Center was theh victim was being treated while another officer was sent to the Sunoco station.
The suspect was identified only as “Gold Mouth” and reports state two other males from Atlanta had been at the shooting scene.
The investigation is continuing.
