Unity Christian School easily defeated Fidelis Christian School in the Lions home opener on Friday night, 74-6. (Hometown from earlier this season)

 

Unity Christian is the Georgia Association of Private and Parocial Schools Football 8-Man 2020 champion: Unity Christian, already favored by three touchdowns, was to play Cherokee Christian School this Friday night to decide the state title. But Monday evening, Unity received word Cherokee Christian had to quarantine for COVID, basically forfeiting its shot at the title game.

That leaves Unity as the champion. The teams played on Oct. 16 of this year with the Lions winning 30-16. It was one of 10 wins for Unity this season prior to Monday’s announcement.

From John McClellan, a look at how Unity got to the championsion: The Lions defeated New Creation Christian Academy 38-0, Harvester Christian Academy 2-0 by forfeit, Peachtree Academy 18-10, Fideles Christian School 74-6, Dominion Christian 68-6, Covington Academy 66-0, Cherokee Christian school 30-16, Johnson Ferry Christian Academy 58-0, and Lanier Christian Academy 42-0 before Pinecrest Academy canceled the scheduled last regular season game. Unity Christian earned a bye in the first round of the playoffs before defeating Peachtree Academy 42-16 in the semifinals.
