Flu cases remained low in Georgia, U.S. through Nov. 7: Only one state, Iowa, reported a “very high” number of flu cases for the week ending Nov. 7, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A few others reported “low” readings while Georgia was among a majority of states reporting “minimal” cases. The weekly summary from the Georgia Department of Public Health concurs: No deaths, no outbreaks and no hospitalizations in the metro area. That said, healthcare officials continue to urge residents to get flu shots. The first of the holidays, Thanksgiving, is Nov. 26. - The Bartow County Health Department at 100 Zena Drive, Cartersville, will offer free flu shots to individuals 19 and older from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at a series of drive-through immunization clinics set for Nov. 17 and 24 at the Zena Senior Center, next door to the health department.
