Buzz: Property taxes due Monday. ‘Stranger Things’ taping closes part of Second Avenue. Rome’s Alcohol Control Commission meets Monday. Blood Assurance open extra hours Nov. 19.

Floyd County property taxes are due on Monday, Nov. 16. The office is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday. Also, a drop box is now in the courthouse parking lot and another in the hallway outside of the property tax office in the Historic Courthouse on Fifth Avenue. Any bill that is mailed and postmarked by Nov. 16 will be considered on time. Online payments can be made at www.floydcountytax.com.


 

 

 

 

On Nov. 19, Blood Assurance is holding a “Thanks for Giving” event at their Rome center, 168 Shorter Ave.,  to boost collections before the Thanksgiving holiday. They will be giving away one $50 Butterball coupon every hour. The Butterball coupons can be redeemed anywhere that sells groceries for $50 worth of food products. The Rome location will be open until 10 p.m. on this day to accommodate for more donors. Donors can schedule by visiting bloodassurance.org/giverome, calling 800-962-0628, or by texting BAGIVE to 999777.


Rome’s Alcohol Control Commission meets Monday at 5 p.m. at City Hall. On the agenda:

  • Issue a New Beer Package License at the Maple Food Shop, 2031 Maple Ave., to Sanjib Dhakal.
  • Issue a New Beer Package License at Tops Corner Food Mart, 1105 Calhoun Avenue, to Mary Jo Vice.
  • Issue a New Beer, Wine, and Liquor Pouring License at Turn Up, 1103 Calhoun Ave. Ste. C, to Affan Arif.
  • Alcohol Sales Permit Appeal – Spencer Wills
  • Police Report.
