Northwest Georgia’s taste for “authentic Mediterranean-Middle Eastern cuisine” has another option to consider as Atlanta-based Ameer’s Mediterranean Grill has opened at 203 Richardson Road (on the Popeye’s side of Ga. 53) in Calhoun.

With locations already on Briarcliff in Atlanta and in Roswell, Ameer’s offers “made-from-scratch daily with the highest quality ingredients. 100% halal meat. From traditional favorites such as beef and lamb shawarma and baklava to fried tilapia filet and chicken wings.” You can sample the Calhoun restaurant’s menu here. Dinners are $14 to $17 with sandwiches ranging from $8 to 10.

The restaurant received a score of 95 during Tuesday’s Public Health restaurant inspections.

The hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and closed Mondays. For takeout and more: Facebook.

Jerusalem Grill in Rome has been the lead in the Mediterranean push and recently opened a location in Calhoun as well. Several others have tried in Rome and Cartersville.
