Another one of the Martha Berry Highway hotels is on the market, this time the Relax Inn with an asking price of $950,000.
Craig McDaniel, a commercial Reatlor for Toles, Temple & Wright and mayor pro tem of the City Commission, once again has the listing for one of the city’s more known addresses. The listing:
“The Relax Inn is 24-unit motel located on one of the main corridors leading into downtown Rome, Georgia. It sits less than a quarter mile from Floyd Medical Center and less than one half mile to historic Broad Street. The motel was built in 1964 and has been owned and managed by the the same family for almost four decades. There is a five-bedroom home on the property where the owners reside. The owner is retiring and has decided to sell the property.”
The listing actually says it was built in 1959 and sits on almost a half-acre sandwiched between Martha Berry and North Fifth Avenue.
The Martha Berry Highway corridor has been in the headlines because of crime in the area — but also because of redevelopment interests. There have been talks of some potential purchases and the area continue to see growth, the latest being a new medical office. There’s also a push to replace Sumo (which remains open) with senior housing.
