Rebecca Brooke Anthony, age 37, of Kearney, MO, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020.

Rebecca was born in Rome, GA, on December 17, 1982, daughter of Izaak W. Anthony and the late Florence Brooks Anthony. She was a 2001 graduate of Rome High School and received her Master’s Degree in Polymer and Fiber Engineering from Auburn University. Rebecca loved being outdoors, all animals and was the proud owner of several cats and dogs.

Rebecca is survived by a son, Adam Selman; the father of her son, Richard Selman; father Izaak Anthony; sister, Rachel Turner; niece, Vivienne Blake Turner; uncles, Ron Anthony and Mark Anthony; cousins, Sydney Anthony, Laney Anthony, Kelsi Anthony.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Anthony on April 23rd of this year. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the family was not able to have a Celebration of Life for her. Therefore, Rebecca and her mother’s Celebration will be held on Saturday afternoon, November 14, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Judge Jack Niedrach officiating.

Mrs. Shirley Arlene Washington Whatley, age 69, of Cedartown, Ga. transitioned Friday, November 6, 2020. Service for Mrs. Whatley will be Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 1 pm at F. K. Jones Funeral Home in Peek Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Polk Memory Gardens in Cedartown.

Public viewing for Mrs. Shirley Arlene Washington Whatley will be Tuesday, November 10, 2020 from 12 noon until 6 pm and Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 10 am until the service hour.


Clara Mae Stinnett Smith, beloved mother, went to be with her lord Jesus on Saturday November 7 after a short illness.

Clara was born on May 20, 1934 in Subligna GA., to the late Jackson Stinnett and Mary Browder Stinnett. She had many jobs and was a very hard worker but is most fond of her time as a Floyd County School bus driver and as a nursery worker at Rome Seed and Feed. Some of Clara’s hobbies were gardening, canning, sewing, spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Smith; her parents; brothers: Harold, Elmer, James, Buck, Gene Stinnett; sisters: Mary Sue Cook, Margie Knowles, Christie Sneed, and Nellie McWhorter.

Survivors include daughters: Jackie Wooten, Shelia Wooten, Amelia (Mike) Baker, and June Stone; step son: Jeff (Vickie) Smith; grandchildren: Chris Wooten, Julie (Mark) Loveless, Gary Matthews, Amanda (Brent) Duff, Zachary Baker, Jordan Stone, Shea Smith, Ariel (Jesse) Crider, Jason Wooten, Jayla Stone, Bridgette Curren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister: Beatrice Ward.

Private Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 10, 2020 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Justice officiating. Interment will be private.
