The 9,520-square-foot former home of Pier 1 Imports at Riverbend Center is under contract, according to the Ledbetter Properties website. Pier 1 announced in January, prior to the pandemic, that it was closing stores and an inventory liquidation followed soon after.
Wright Ledbetter, COO of Ledbetter Properties, says, “We do have a replacement tenant that we are finalizing negotiations with at this time, but are not in a position to announce the plans at this time. It will be a new retailer to Rome and we expect them to open sometime in 2021.”
Meanwhile, construction continues to move along at the East Bend shopping center across Turner McCall Boulevard. Ledbetter says construction is on track for a full opening of the entire center by fall 2021.
“We have been working through the COVID delays…it really threw us some curve balls. Kohl’s has been delayed until next year. We have been a little disappointed by the slow down caused by COVID but we are optmistic that all is on track for a Fall 2021 full opening of the center,” he says. “We will be turning over our retail spaces in December, before Christmas, so we may see some activity and opening dates in early 2021.”
Discount Tire is now under construction between Texas Roadhouse and Chipotle. Ledbetter says they are planning a May 2021 opening.
Speaking of Texas Roadhouse, the long anticipated opening date is set for Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. Brandy Kelly is the managing partner for the new restaurant. “We can’t wait to open up and be a part of the Rome community,” she says.
Although the restaurant has banners up for a free meal for veterans this Wednesday, Nov. 11, they will just be giving a free entree pass to veterans who come by on Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and bring some form of military ID. The pass can be used once the restaurant opens.
Hours of operation will be Monday-Thursday from 3 p.m.-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
McAlister’s Deli is also expected to open this December. Fazoli’s, Eggs Up Grill and Jersey Mike’s Subs are also on deck to join the East Bend restaurant line-up along with Panda Express and Chipotle already open. Other expected retailers include Five Below and Old Navy, along with over a dozen smaller retailers.
