Services are scheduled for Tuesday for an Armuchee High Class of 2007 graduate who died in a shooting in Euharlee on Saturday night.
Jonathan A. Smith Sr. age 31, of White Ga, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020.
Mr. Smith was born on April 24, 1989 the son of Brennon Smith and Delores Herring Smith. He was owner operator of J. A. Smith Contractors. Jonathan graduated from Armuchee High School in 2007. He was a family man making his family first, always working hard to build a legacy. Jonathan’s sons were his pride and joy.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stewart and Catherine Smith
Jonathan is survived by his wife of 9 years, Kelsey Walker Smith; 2 sons, Jonathan A. Smith, Jr. and Rhett W. Smith; his father, Brennon E. Smith Sr. and his mother, Delores Herring Smith; his brothers, Brennon Smith, Jr. and Shelby R. Smith, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glenn and Misty Smith. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Jonathan Smith will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 in the chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Pastor Stanley Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Visitation for Jonathan will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from11 o’clock until 1 o’clock at Salmon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Justen Crowe, Clinton Kilgore, Justin Bolt, Tyler Smith, Brennon Smith Jr. and Shelby Smith.
A Cartersville man faces murder and other charges following a Saturday night shooting that left another man dead.
Killed from a gunshot wound was Jonathan Smith, 31, according to Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton. Smith was taken to Floyd Medical Center where he later died, Guyton says. Smith’s body was sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy. The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday in Euharlee.
Cody Lamont Daniell is has been charged with murder, aggravated assault (gun) and obstruction of law enforcement officers, Bartow County Jail reports show. Daniell is identified as a Cartersville area attorney.
Also arrested at the crime scene — 99 Millam Bridge Road, Euharlee, listed as Daniell’s residence — were Dessie Lauren Daniel and Kelsey Michelle Smith, both on misdemeanor charges of obstruction of a law enforcement officer, jail records show.
We have calls into the Euharlee Police Department. Contrary to earlier statements, the GBI is not assisting with the case.
