Developing: Polk County Police say wanted murder suspect Jimmy Blackmon, 50, is in custody as of Monday. Arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s Office, Blackmon is now charged with murder, possession of a firearm or knife in the commission of a felony and cruelty to children, Polk County Jail records show. He is charged in the death of Ginger Leanne Blackmon, who was shot to death on Oct. 18 in Rockmart, police say.
Blackmon initially was tracked from Rockmart to the East Rome Walmart and then off Ga. 101, police said. Polk officers had searched off 101 for several days (below). News of the arrest came late Monday morning.
In addition to her parents, she is also survived by her children, Kasen Lee Hay, Jackson Scott Christian, Logan Wayne Christian; stepson, Wade Christian and Bradley Vaughn; brother, Max Dillon Green of Buchanan.
Funeral services were held Oct. 24, 2020, in the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home. Interment followed in Draketown Baptist Church Cemetery.
From Polk County Police: (Tuesday), the Polk County Criminal Investigation Division, K9 Unit and Rockmart Police searched the woods off Highway 101 and Pleasant Valley Road in Floyd County for Mr. Jimmy Blackmon or any evidence of his being in the area.
