Media release: Unity Christian School’s College and Career Guidance center received commendation from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) / COGNIA during their most recent dual accreditation visit in September. The effectiveness of the College and Career Guidance program was assessed internally by key stakeholders, including administrators, teachers, parents, and students in addition to outside members of the accreditation team. Specifically lauded were the individualized approach to a student’s college and career readiness and communication with parents through regular information sessions and weekly emails, particularly as the COVID-19 pandemic quickly altered the landscape of college admissions and career development.
Unity Christian School’s class of 2020 excelled despite the difficulties presented by a sudden switch to online learning. Upon graduation, 95% of the graduating class enrolled in an institution of higher learning and 5% entered the workforce directly. ACT scores for the class of 2020 were also above local, state and national averages. The average Composite score for the class of 2020 was 23.45. Subject areas were also higher than local, state and national averages, with an English score average of 24.13, a Math score average of 21.93, a Reading score average of 25, and a Science score average of 23.2.
College and Career Guidance Counselor Starr Boylan stated, “It’s a blessing to work with Unity students and their parents as they plan their vocational path. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter of life has to offer these amazing students.”
