Business: 7,400-square-foot auto parts store proposed for DaySpring Assembly of God site near East Rome Walmart.

Just across from the Walmart in East Rome, the DaySpring Assembly of God church has been listed for sale several times in recent years off U.S. 411 and Callier Springs Road. Photo by Natalie Simms/for Hometown.

Ever since Walmart built the supercenter in East Rome, off U.S. 411 and Callier Springs Road, property in the remaining three corners of the intersection has been in play. Every few years, new offerings would be made and among them was the hillside home of DaySpring Assembly of God at 3330 Callier Springs Road. There were so close calls over the years.

Most recently, the 10-acre site has been listed for $600,000 by LakePoint Realty Group.

Something has clicked, at least for 1.7 acres of the site, as signs are up for special use zoning requests. The application with the Rome/Floyd Planning Department shows an auto parts retail store is planned for the site, featuring almost 7,400 square feet under roof. The applicant is Druid Assets LLC.

We’ll have additional details next week. This is the first major development in the area since Tractor Supply opened. The Evans family has prepared a huge site across 411 from Tractor Supply for additional development as well.
