Education: Rome High’s Nebrea Askew, Sonoraville’s Elijah Hibberts named to Georgia’s Student Advisory Council.

Rome High School junior Nebrea Askew recently was selected to serve as a member of the State School Superintendent, Richard Woods’ 2020-2021 Student Advisory Council.

According to the Georgia Department of Education’s website, it is a group of students in grades 9-12 who discuss how decisions made at the state level are affecting students throughout Georgia.  All students are eligible to apply; however, members are chosen by a select committee of agency representatives based on the applicant’s response to questions.

Askew, alongside other council members will meet throughout the school year with Woods and serve as advisors who act as liaisons between the Department of Education and the students of Georgia.

Other regional members:

  • Elijah Hibberts, a senior at Sonoraville High
