State Patrol: Tennessee man dies in accident on U.S. 41; second fatality in two days in Bartow County.

According to the Georgia State Patrol:

A van was traveling north on U.S. 41, attempting to change lanes from the right to left lane. The driver, Ted M. Creel, 53, of Madison, Tenn., was traveling too fast for conditions, losing control of the van and running off the roadway to the right, rotating clockwise. The left side then made contact with two trees. The area of impact was on the east shoulder of the highway. Creel died Saturday from his injuries.
It was Bartow County’s second fatal accident this week. On the morning of Oct. 8, a concrete mixer truck was traveling east on Ga. 140 near mile marker 8. A 2004 GMC Yukon was traveling west on Ga. 140. The driver of mixer made a left turn into the path of Yukon. The Yukon driver, Laura Virginia “Ginger” Thompson, age 56, of Adairsville, died from injuries sustained in the accident, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Thompson was a longtime teacher at Cass Middle School. Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun is in charge of arrangements.
