More rain expected today after a stormy evening that brought severe thunderstorms and a tornado warning for our area. Several trees were reported down in Floyd County, but so far, no confirmed reports of a tornado on the ground.

Weather forced cancellation of Rome River Jam’s second evening at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds while downtown Rome’s Fiddlin’ Fest ended at 3 p.m., two hours early, because of the weather. Saturday evening, the area went other severe thunderstorm warnings and later a tornado warning (7-8 p.m.) From River Jam’s Facebook post: “We are working with Ticketmaster and will follow up with purchasers by email as soon as possible regarding information around refunds.”
The remnants of Delta will continue to move across portions of the southeast today, bringing locally heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms across north and portions of central Georgia. Rainfall will be heavy at times, with up to an additional inch of rainfall expected mainly across the northeast Georgia mountains. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible, with lightning the main hazard.
Sunday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. High near 76. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
