Fans might be dodging some rain drops but two big weekend events and a third offering look good to go — starting tonight.

First up is Rome River Jam under never-before-seen social distancing guidelines that could be the prototype for outdoor performances in 2021. River Jam, at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds tonight and Saturday nights, will have teams from Rolling Stone and Billboard in attendance to record what unfolds.

The Rome River Jam schedule (gates open at 5 p.m. each day):

  • This evening: Lee Brice, Hardy and Ashland Craft.
  • Saturday: Riley Green, Jon Langston and Hunter Chastain.

The biggest event will be Rome River Jam, seating some 4,800 fans each night in six-person pods, all socially distanced with extra security on hand to keep crowds safe. For those with event questions, please see this Q & A.

Saturday’s Fiddlin’ Fest bills itself as  “one giant street festival featuring Bluegrass music and vintage fun.” The city will close traffic in the 100, 200, 300, 400 blocks from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.). The event itself will begin at noon and go until 5 p.m. on Saturday. Track event updates here, especially weather.
Downtown shops will feature sidewalk sales and restaurants will offer food and drinks for sale outside their businesses. Adult beverages purchased at restaurants may be brought within the event area with an armband. No outside coolers allowed. Please note that you will need to bring your own seating to watch the music.
