(Updated) Bartow sheriff: Kidnapped 10-month-old found safe in Rockdale County; Cartersville babysitter facing multiple charges; now in Bartow jail.

Wednesday morning update:

Bartow County Jail records show Brittany McCoy has been booked into the Bartow County Jail on four charges stemming from the case. McCoy, who lives on  Camp Sunrise Road, was booked into the county jail at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday.

 

 

Media release: Bartow County Sheriff’s Office charges woman in connection with an Amber Alert regarding a missing child.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing adult, Brittany McCoy, who was supposed to be babysitting a 10-month-old juvenile in Bartow County. The Sheriff’s Office immediately initiated a search for McCoy and the child.

Once circumstances warranted an Amber Alert, the alert was issued statewide and McCoy, along with the juvenile, were located shortly thereafter in Rockdale County.

The parents of the juvenile were notified that the child was located in good health and are on their way to be reunited with their child.

McCoy is now in custody of the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated charges. Bartow County investigators are charging McCoy with theft by taking (motor vehicle), kidnapping, reckless conduct/endangerment, and interference with child custody.

According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, 10-month-old Jordan Ramsey went missing Thursday. He’s described as having blonde hair, hazel colored eyes, weighs 25 pounds, and is 2’9″ tall.

NCMEC states that baby Jordan was last seen wearing a gray-colored long-sleeved onesie with the phrase “chunky baby” on it.

Ramsey is believed to be with 32-year-old Brittany McCoy and could be traveling in a 2006 blue-colored Chevrolet HHR with a Georgia tag of RMA1971.

NCMEC states the Georgia Bureau of Investigations has activated a LEVI’S Call, Georgia’s AMBER Alert system, at the request of Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information or any witnesses are asked to call 911 immediately or contact the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office at 770-382-5050.
