Mrs. Katherine Floyd Chambers, age 82, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at a Lafayette healthcare facility.
Mrs. Chambers was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on August 25, 1938, daughter of the late Vinnie Floyd and the late Mildred Baldwin Floyd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George F. Chambers, by four brothers, Daniel, Wilburn, Edward and Miron Floyd, and by two sisters, Helen Williams and Linda Gail Floyd. Mrs. Chambers was a member of Eden Valley Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she worked in the textile industry at Galey & Lord, Dillinger’s and lastly at Mohawk.
Survivors include 3 children, Randall E. “Randy” Chambers (Sherryl), George R. Chambers (Linda), and Susan R. Rogers; 3 grandchildren, Randall O. Chambers, Danielle Crocker (Jared) and Evan Jones; 5 great grandchildren, Jeffery Jackson, Conner Jackson, Sammie Jo Crocker, Chloey Jones and Dakota Jones; 2 brothers, Carroll & Billy Wayne Floyd; 2 sisters, Dot Craddock and Wanda Jane Wilson; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Lester officiating. Interment will follow in Morning View Cemetery. Social distancing measures will be followed, and mask are requested.
Mrs. Chambers will lie in state at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 2pm until 2:45pm. Social distancing measures will be followed, and masks are requested.

Mrs. Thelma Jacquelin Lanning Brackett, age 90 of Rome passed away Thursday September 24, 2020.
Mrs. Brackett was born July 1, 1930 in Shannon, Ga. a daughter of the late John Thomas Lanning, and Minnie Mae Brown. Mrs. Brackett has a fondness for Cooking, gardening, books, and movie but above all, she adored her family and always put other above herself. Like all of us at various points in her life she enjoyed many different activities, but overall her essence was as a caring and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by all those whose lives were touched by her love and kindess. She was preceded in death by brothers, John Thomas Lanning, Jr. and DeWitt Lanning.
Survivors include sons, Brian (Dawn) Brackett, Chris (Renee) Brackett, daughters, Teresa (Christopher) Moore, Wynette (Ray) Morton, grandchildren, Mark Morton, Jr., Justin Brackett, Dakota Brackett, Jonathan Brackett, Jacquelin Brackett, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday September 28, 2020 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Terry Plemmons, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Laura Annette Pruitt Jamison, age 83, of Cedartown passed away Wednesday September 23, 2020.
Laura was born on February 14, 1937 in Calhoun County Alabama, to the late William Lathan Pruitt and Verdis Morgan Pruitt. Ms. Jamison was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her brother: Maylon Pruitt, and her sister: Sharah Terry.
Survivors include her children: Wilburn (Melinda) Hester, Angie (David) Williams, Darlene (Justin) Barkwell, Chandra Ayers, and Shannon (John) Sisson; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother: Danny Pruitt; and sister: Marvene Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday September 26, 2020 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Rev. John Sisson, and David Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service hour on Saturday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome GA. 30165.
Mr. Joe Thomas Matthews, Jr., age 79, of Rome, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020, at his residence.
Mr. Matthews was born in Cleburne County, Alabama on November 30, 1940, son of the late Joe Thomas Matthews, Sr. and the late Ida Mae Brewer Matthews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy Elmer Matthews, and James Matthews, and by a sister, Sara Jo Matthews. Mr. Matthews worked as a brick layer for several years and then retired from West Point Pepperell Manufacturing in Lindale. After retirement, he worked as a security officer. Mr. Matthews was of the Baptist faith and loved fishing, panning for gold and watching the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Gore Matthews, to whom he was married on November 25, 1966; two daughters, Tamara Darnell Ely (Jamie) and Vicki Lynn McKerley (Adam); three granddaughters, Ashely Danielle Bramlett, Casey Jennifer Ely, and Jessie Summer Ely; three great grandchildren, Will Thomas, Emma Jewel Evans, and Jessica Brooklyn Bramlett; a sister-in-law, Janice Kay Gravley; several nieces and nephews; special lifelong friend and fishing partner, Gene Godfrey; special pet friends, Sambo and Warty.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at 2pm at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Steve Kelley officiating. Social distancing measures will be followed.

Mr. Hal Earnest “Pee Wee” Truitt Sr., age, 72, of Rome, Ga. transitioned September 23, 2020. Graveside Service for Mr. Truitt will be Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 1 pm at Eastview Cemetery. As always, keep the family lifted up in prayer.
**Public viewing for Mr. Truitt will be Monday, September 28, 2020 from 10 am until 6 pm.
