Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation is in the process of removing the dock at Brushy Branch. The dock was damaged beyond repair. The good news is that a new dock is on the way.
“We realized a few years back that we needed a new dock at Brushy Branch and had it added to the SPLOST,” RFPRA Director Todd Wofford says. “That dock has served us for many years and thankfully we already have funds to replace it, so we are working on getting it done as soon as we can.”
The park and boat launch remain open at the park. Wofford also notes that Lock and Dam Park will be getting a new dock in early 2021 as well.

A ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the Mount Berry Trail is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m.

The trailhead parking lot is located on Coligni Way behind the U.S. Post Office on U.S. 27 off Marha Berry.

Construction of the trail was completed in August. The trail follows the west bank of the Oostanaula River up to Big Dry Creek and spans 1.8 miles.  Spriggs Construction was contracted to complete the paving of the trail.  This trail is a joint 2013 SPLOST project between the City of Rome and TRED of Rome/Floyd County.
