John McClellan’s picks for this Friday:

Coosa’s multiple overtime win over Trion, Model’s come-from-behind win over LaFayette and Darlington’s dominating season opening performance over Lakeview Academy highlighted Friday night football in Northwest Georgia. Other key games in the season’s second week included Rockmart’s win over state-ranked Cedartown, Cass’s 2-0 start to the new season, Cartersville’s win over Class 7A West Forsyth, and Unity Christian’s road win over defending state champion Peachtree Academy.

In a young season in which schools across Georgia have been affected by COVID-19 delays, postponements and cancellations, Armuchee became the first local team to be directly impacted by the pandemic. Quarantine requirements resulted in the cancellation of this week’s schedule game between Armuchee and Coosa, resulting in a change of opponents for Coosa and a one-delay in next week’s scheduled game between Armuchee and Weaver (Ala.)
