Rome High band practice canceled until COVID-19 test results return on ‘students.’

All weekend, parents have been asking about reports of one or more band members at Rome High either having coronavirus or exhibiting symptoms. On Saturday, Hometown emailed inquiries to Superintendent Lou Byars as well as the communication’s director. There has not been a response.

Sunday morning, a parent shared the above note from Chad Hannah, the director of bands for Rome City Schools. As he states, students are being tested and until results are available, band practice has been suspended.

Parents are reporting there are findings already available concerning band members.

Monday morning, Hometown Headlines filed an Open Records request with the city school system and its attorney regarding all COVID-19 information as it relates to faculty, staff and students. No names will be sought or used. This will include athletes as our initial inquiry about fall sports conditioning was never acknowledged.
