State Patrol: Trion motorcyclist dies in collision in Chattooga County on Sunday. Rydal man died in Gordon County accident on Saturday.

 

From the Georgia State Patrol:

On August 2, 2020, at 2:07 p.m.,  Cpl. Doug Shamblin was dispatched to a traffic crash on U.S. 27 near Lake Wanda Rieta Road.  The crash involved a BMW motorcycle and a Pontiac Montana van. The Pontiac’s driver attempted to turn south onto 27 1 from a parking lot.  The motorcycle was traveling north on 27 in the right lane.  The Pontiac entered the motorcycle’s path and was struck in the left side.  The driver of motorcycle suffered fatal injuries.  There were no other injuries. The investigation continues.

Killed was Kenneth Stephens, 41, of Trion.

The driver of the Pontiac was Elizabeth Tench, 31, of Menlo.


From the Georgia State Patrol

On Aug. 1, 2020, at 8:26 a.m., a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling north on Wesley Chapel Road attempting to negotiate a curve.  The vehicle traveled across the southbound lane and off the west side of the road. The vehicle struck a tree with the driver’s side of the vehicle. The driver died at the scene. He was identified as Jeremy Daniel Davis, 39, of Rydal. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is a suspected contributing factor. The accident report is not complete.
