Mr. Robert “Bob” Henderson Griffin, Sr., age 84, of Silver Creek, went to be with Jesus on Friday, July 31, 2020, at his residence.
“Do the right thing for the right reason” was Mr. Griffin’s motto. He was a man of character and integrity and was a loving husband and father. Mr. Griffin was born in Rome, GA on June 6, 1936, son of the late Howard Preston Griffin, Sr. and the late Helene Rickman Griffin. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Melissa Griffin, and by a brother, Dr. Howard Preston Griffin, Jr. Mr. Griffin graduated from Rome High School and earned his Bachelors degree from Shorter University. Before retirement, he worked in Human Resources and Safety for Georgia Kraft working primarily out of Rome. He was an active and faithful member of Hollywood Baptist Church before his declining health.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Hilda Combs Griffin, Silver Creek, to whom he was married in 1961; 2 sons, Robert Henderson Griffin, Jr. (Cherry), McDonough, and Joseph Bryan Griffin (Candy), Dalton; a granddaughter, Ansley Griffin Hughes (Grant), Ft. Payne, AL; 2 grandsons, Trey Griffin, Panama City Beach, FL, and Ben Griffin, Dalton; a brother, Charles E. Griffin, Rome; a sister-in-law, Katherine Griffin, Ft. Myers, FL; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mr. Griffin will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at 10 am in Floyd Memory Gardens with the Rev. David Harper officiating. Post #5 Honor Guard will deliver military honors. Social distancing regulations will be followed.
Pall bearers are requested to assemble at Floyd Memory Gardens on Wednesday by 9:45am and include; Trey Griffin, Ben Griffin, Grant Hughes, Jerry Roden, Bryan Fowler, Bill Fortenberry and Jeff VanVlake.
The family requests that those attending the graveside to be thinking of a memory of Mr. Griffin that you can write and place in a memory box that will be provided at the cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to The Parkinson’s Research Foundation.

Idelle Milam Holsonback, 90, of Rome died Friday afternoon, July 31, 2020 at her residence with her family.
A native of Euharlee, Bartow County, GA Mrs. Holsonback was born December 4, 1929, daughter of the late Charles Roy and Mary Emma Couch Milam, Prior to retirement, she was employed with Parker, Clary, and Kent attorneys and Maxwell Brothers Home Furnishings, and was an active member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church where she played the piano for several years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, and in later years observed the birds and wildlife, and the changing of the seasons. Mrs. Holsonback was preceded in death by her daughter Jane Mathis.
Survivors include her husband, Arvin E. Holsonback, to whom she was married for 67 years; daughter and son in law Diane and Tony Green; son in law Howard Mathis; grandchildren Suzanne Fulghum , Laura Mathis, and Stephen Green and his wife Desiree. Great grandchildren Tucker and Emma Green and Wesley Fulghum also survive.
Private funeral services will be conducted with Reverends Clyde Hampton and Mac McCurry officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens

Mrs. Ree Owens Milton, age 93, of Rome, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020, at her residence after a brief illness.
Mrs. Milton was born in Armuchee, Georgia on June 18, 1927, daughter of the late John Coen Owens and the late Daisy Beall Owens. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband N. E. “Teck” Milton, by two brothers and their wives, Charles Owens (Estelle) and James Loyd Owens (Martha), as well as sister-in-law, Shirley Owens. Mrs. Milton was a graduate of Armuchee High School and attended Shorter Avenue Baptist Church and West Rome Baptist Church. She had a special love for all the children she had the honor to “mother” through her years as owner of Wee Tot Daycare and Storybook Kindergarten. She also loved her brides at The Wedding Belle and Catering Corner.
Survivors include a daughter, Reesa Milton (Fuad Khoury); a brother, John Alton Owens; a sister-in-law, Sara Milton, Titusville, FL; many adored nieces and nephews; and special family friends the Milton & Ozella Graves family.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at 10am in the Gazebo at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Dr. Gary Graves will officiate. Social distancing measures will be observed.

Jesse Emory Moon, Jr. age 76, of Rome passed away July 30, 2020 in a local hospital.
Mr. Moon was born February 6, 1944, Floyd County, a son of the late Jesse Emory Moon, Sr. and Ollie Tant Moon. Mr. Moon graduated from Coosa High in 1962, served in the United States Army First Infantry Division (The Big Red One) and Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. Mr. Moon retired from Inland Containers Corporation in 2004. He was preceded in death a sister, Janie Lockridge, brother, Jeffrey Todd Moon.
Survivors include, his wife, Jo Ann Moon, sons, Jesse Emory Moon III, Joseph Henry Charles Moon.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday August 3, 2020, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Billy Rabern, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday August 2, 2020 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, GA. 30165.
