Rome Police: Bicyclist hit by car near Stonebridge Golf Course and airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center; in stable condition.

 

Rome Police confirm a female bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on Old Summerville Road near Stonebridge Golf Course on Saturday morning. According to Officer Brummit, the bicyclist, identified as Susan Mullis, 74, was traveling northbound on Old Summerville Road. Her husband’s Facebook post said she was in stable condition Saturday night in the ICU ward at Erlanger Medical Center.

According to police and updated Sunday morning:

A vehicle, also traveling northbound, came up behind the bicyclist and went into the southbound lane in an attempt to pass the bicyclist. At the same time, the bicyclist attempted to make a left turn in front of the car onto Stonebridge Drive to the golf course when she was hit with the right front fender of the vehicle. She was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time. Brummit says charges against the driver are pending the investigation.
