Peach pickup time: The Kiwanis Club’s peach pickup was Friday at State Mutual Stadium. The Kiwanis offered easy, conactless pickup if needed. Club member John Pillsbury says the peach sale has helped raise more than $60,000 to help area students, schools and other cases supported by the club. This past spring, the club gave out $9,000 in scholarships. The supplier is Jaemor Farms near Gainesville in Northeast Georgia. The peach sale is an annual event.
Holy Manna Ministries celebrated its ribbon-cutting with the Cartesville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce earlier this week and continues the grand opening event with free food from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today. Included: Produce, milk, a smoked chicken lunch and coffee. Holy Manna is at 2368 Ga. 113 in Taylorsville. Holy Manna is dedicated to feeding the community and partners with many other ministries to be able to do so, according to the chamber.
Rome Rotary and Seven Hills Rotary are teaming up with other organizations for a community food distribution event this Wednesday at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds. It is part of the “Farmers to Families/ Food Boxes” program and is open to all with no registration. It is drive-through as well. The hours are 5 until 7 p.m.
The Rome Area History Center announces the center will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays only. Entry is free but tickets are required to help ensure social distancing. For safety, drop-in visitors are not permitted at this time. Guests can reserve tickets for 10 and 11 a.m. or 2 and 3 p.m. Reserve tickets online.
