Whistle Britches at 206 Broad Street is reopening this Tuesday, July 14 after being closed for six weeks. A grand reopening event is planned from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Owner Kim Holland had announced in early May that she was planning to permanently close the store May 30 due to health reasons. However, former Rome Downtown Development Director Amanda Carter stepped in to become take over the management of the store, so the decision was made to stay open on Broad Street and well as with their online store. They did close May 30 for inventory and have been working for the last few weeks to restock and revamp the storefront. The store will feature some new brands and new items when it reopens Tuesday.
Construction continues on the new medical office for Dr. Stephan LaPointe and his Georgia Foot and Ankle Specialists office at 1100 Martha Berry Blvd., adjacent to Go Go Running at The Shoe Box. Susan LaPointe says her husband’s office is on schedule to be completed by November if not earlier. “They are getting the outside up quick and the inside will probably move a bit slower,” she says.
The office will be moving form 409 W. 10th Street off Fifth Avenue. The new office will give them much needed space with 10 treatment rooms, up from the current six. “It will also give us better visibility, better location and better parking. We are really looking forward to the move,” says LaPointe.
Mark Cochran of CEVIAN Design Lab is the architect. The building permit value was $815,000.
