Cpl. Jessica Danielle Churchwell, USMC, age 21, of Rome, GA, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020, in Camp Pendleton, CA.
Cpl. Churchwell was born in Rome, GA on May 3, 1999, daughter of Lisa Rene Whorton and Augustus Perry Churchwell. She was a 2017 graduate of Pepperell High School. Following graduation, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and at the time of her death, was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. She was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Lisa Rene Whorton, Rome; her father and step-mother, Perry and Charman Churchwell, Rome; maternal grandmothers, Nancy Smith, Cedar Bluff, AL, and Judy Whorton, Andrews, TX; her paternal grandparents, A. P. and Rose Churchwell, Rome; 3 sisters, her twin sister, Sarah Michelle Churchwell, Leanna Shaw, and Brianna Shaw, all of Rome; her brother, Elliott Churchwell, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020, at 12 noon at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church with Dr. Philip May and the Rev. Chris Giddens officiating. Private interment, due to the pandemic, will follow in Georgia National Cemetery. The United States Marine Corps will provide full military honors.
The family will receive friends at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church on Friday from 10am until 11:45am. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Mrs. Jean Davis Herring, age 79, of Rome, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020, at her residence.
Mrs. Herring was born in Floyd County, Georgia on September 11, 1940, daughter of the late Rev. A. C. Davis and the late Nellie Sexton Davis. She was raised in the Riverside Community and was employed by Celanese Fiber Corp. She later retired from Kroger Company in Rome. Mrs. Herring was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Rome. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Melvin Herring, by a son, Bruce Benoy Herring, Sr., and by four brothers, Arnold, Max, Early and Ronnie Davis.
Survivors include a son, Brad Herring (Sherry), Rome; two daughters, Brenda Shiver (Mitch), Sylacauga, AL, and Beverly Compton, Rome; six grandchildren, Ashley Thrash, Adam Compton, Autumn Barnes, Bruce B. Herring, Jr., Kinsey Boydstone and Micah Herring; five great grandchildren with another one due any day; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 12 noon with the Rev. Matt Smith officiating and the Rev. Randy Lambert closing with prayer.
Mrs. Herring will lie instate at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 10:30am until 11:30am. Social distancing measures will be followed.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday at 11am and include: Marty Davis, Adam Compton, Bruce Herring, Jr., Chad Moore and Tyler Moore.

Mr. Ronald Lathan King Sr. age 64 of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 at a local hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be Friday, July 3, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. Trinity United Christian Church 6 Deer Run Trail, Rome, Georgia. The Family will have a Private viewing from 2-3 p.m. Public viewing will be from 3-4 p.m. Pastor Jory Ineichen will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Lindale Cemetery.

Mrs. Jacolyn Gould Jones, age 81 of Cedar Avenue, Rome died Monday June 29th following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Jones was born December 20, 1938 in Savannah, GA daughter of the late Lee Oliver Gould and Maggie Lee Mallard Gould. Mrs. Jones was a member of Savannah First Baptist Church and until her retirement she had partnered with her husband in their marketing and corporate fund raising corporation. After retirement Mrs. Jones became an avid gardener, world traveler and devoted grandmother.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Jones in 2012 and by a grandson, Camden Jones.
Survivors include: two sons and daughter-in-law, Paul Lee Jones, Rome and Craig Jones (Donna), Macon; three grandchildren, Carmen Jones Meadows (Matt), Carson Jones and Grayson Jones (Jessica), three great grandchildren, Olivia Jones, Millie Meadows and Cash Meadows.
There are no services planed for Mrs. Jones at this time.

Janie Modenia Stafford Bridges, age 97, of Rome passed away Sunday June 28, 2020 at a local hospital.
Janie was born June 7, 1923 in Chatsworth GA., to the late Olin Tankersley and Rosa Lee Franklin Tankersley. Janie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Shorter Ave. Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Clabe Hill Stafford, and her second husband: Carl Bridges; and 6 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include children: Jewell Garrard, Lyndel Kelly, Frances Houser, Jim (Diane) Stafford, Charles (Sharon) Stafford, Shirley Stafford, Wayne Stafford; sister: Dennie Sue Stone; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday July 2, 2020 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Rev. Nathan Glenn, and Debby Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.

Cain Grayson Rittenhouse, age 7, of Rome passed away Sunday June 28, 2020 at his residence
Cain was born June 3, 2013 in Gadsden AL., to Josh Rittenhouse and Ashley Crim.
Survivors include his father: Josh Rittenhouse; his mother: Ashley Crim; siblings: Hudson Rittenhouse, Heidi Rittenhouse, Jayla Rittenhouse, Delilah Crim; grandparents: Marie and Martin Pizano; aunt and uncle: Martin and Lori Pizano, Jr.
