Police: No witnesses to substantiate claims of downtown incident overnight

An amateur, after-the-fact video of an incident in the 300 block in downtown Rome early Saturday is being shared on Facebook.

According to Assistant Chief Debbie Burnett with Rome Police, no incident was reported on Saturday night, but a call was received on Friday.

“I’ve received information that this call actually occurred Friday night. Whoever called 911 did not provide a vehicle description or indicate anything about it being gang related. We had many officers respond to the call, but no one gave them any information and seemed as though nothing had been going on,” she says.

Because of the profane language in the video and unsubstantiated information, Hometown Headlines is not linking to it or sharing it.
