A Calhoun man, David Conlon, age 33, was airlifted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta following a crash in Murray County late Thursday. Witnesses removed the man from his burning vehicle before rescue crews arrived.

From Georgia State Patrol: On June 18, at approximately 5:20 p.m., Vehicle #1 (2000 Nissan Xterra) was westbound on SR 52 Alternate, east of Gryder Road negotiating a curve.  Vehicle #1 left the north side of SR 52 Alternate and struck a tree with its front-end.  After striking the tree, vehicle #1 rotated clockwise and came to a final, uncontrolled rest facing north and caught fire.  After catching fire, the witnesses removed the driver out of the passenger front door window due to the doors being jammed.  The area of impact was on the north side of SR 52 Alternate, east of Gryder Road and was determined by tire tracks on the shoulder of the roadway and the statements of the witnesses.
