Bartow deputies investigate shot-up car, second vehicle fire: From Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap: Just after 5 a.m. Friday, deputies and investigators were dispatched to 100 Evergreen Trail, Apt C, in Cartersville in reference to shots fired and a vehicle fire call. Deputies discovered one of the homeowner’s vehicles had been shot multiple times and their other vehicle’s interior had been set on fire. At this time in the investigation, it is not believed this was a random act. No one was injured in this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation’s Division at 770-382-5050 ext. 6025.

From Adairsville Police: On Friday, May 29, Adairsville Police officers notified by Bartow 911 that deputies with Gordon County Sheriff’s Office were in a vehicle pursuit on I-75 south bound with a black Nissan SUV with a New York license plate. The vehicle was traveling between 110-120 mph and had previously eluded Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office on I-75 as well.

One Adairsville officer positioned himself on I-75 south mile marker 304 to deploy spike strips. Another Adairsville officer positioned himself on the exit 306 bridge to assist with the timing of the spike strips. The officer was able to successfully deploy his department issued Stinger spike strips to safely end the pursuit. The vehicle ran over the strips with both front tires. The APD officer recovered his equipment and then traveled south approximately a half mile to the location where the pursuit successfully ended with the offender’s vehicle being disabled with flattened tires.

Upon his arrival both suspects were in custody by Gordon County deputies. In the back seat of the vehicle were two children, ages 1 and 4, which were unknown to Gordon County at the time of the pursuit. No citizens, children or officers were hurt and no vehicles were damaged during the pursuit. The scene was then turned over to Gordon County Sheriff’s Office to complete their investigation.
