Graduates: Pepperell High celebrates Class of 2020 with drive-through ceremony honoring the 190 graduates.

Pepperell High’s Valedictorian Anwyn Shanahan poses for photos with Principal Jamey Alcorn, FCS Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson, and Dr. Tony Daniel, Floyd BOE.

It was certainly a different kind of graduation ceremony at Pepperell High School on Friday evening. Floyd County School officials decided drive-through ceremonies would be the best way to celebrate the Class of 2020 at the end of the school year given the current pandemic. The 190 members of Pepperell’s senior class and their families each drove through the school parking lot, getting out of their vehicle to walk down the red carpet and receive their diplomas, then snap a few pictures before getting back into their car. Each graduate was allowed only one vehicle with family to watch.¬†Another in-person graduation ceremony is in the works for July at The Forum River Center. The valedictorian for Pepperell’s Class of 2020 is Anwyn Shanahan and salutatorian is Payton Rhodes. You can see the complete ceremony via Facebook live below.
