Updated: Power restored to North Rome area after car strikes power pole off N. Broad Street at Callahan Street. Roadway reopened after 6 hour closure.

4 p.m. update: Power has been restored to the area and roadway has reopened to traffic.

Earlier report:

Approximately 211 customers in the North Rome area off North Broad Street are without power this morning after a vehicle struck a power pole in the area. Estimated restoration time is 3 p.m. according to the Georgia Power outage map. North Broad Street is closed from Calhoun Avenue to Anderson Street at this time.

According to Lt. Smith with Rome Police, a single-vehicle left the roadway and struck at power pole in the area. No injuries were reported.

11 a.m. update from Floyd E-911: Road closed/Detour in place: Due to an accident N Broad St from Calhoun Ave to Anderson St is completely shut down.

Residents in the area can detour through Harvey St and Calhoun Ave. Power is out in the area. Power pole & traffic lights down. GA Power is aware.

DOT is in the process of getting road closed signs. City police are on scene. Estimated time to reopen: 6 hours
