Work is under way on 10 senior housing apartments at 1701 Martha Berry Blvd. at Charlton Street, the site where a Sleep Inn hotel was once proposed.
In November, the Rome City Commission approved rezoning of the property to allow for senior living accommodations. At the Nov. 25 meeting, Howard Gibson — the direction of Construction and Modernization for the Housing Authority of Northwest Georgia, told the commission of the authority’s plans:
Five planned buildings with 10 units overall. Included would be six one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom units.
The rezoning was approved by unanimous vote.
Panattoni Development Co. has plans for 1.1 million square feet of warehouse space off Ga. 140 in Adairsville, about midway between U.S. 41 and I-75 across from the Daiki campus, according to state records.
A development of regional impact statement has been filed with the state for International Parkway Phase II, valued at $55 million. It is expected to generate $700,000 in local tax revenue once in operation. Expect up to 1,800 vehicle trips per day with peak traffic of 160 vehicles in the morning and the evening.
