Business: Goo-Goo Car Wash on Shorter Avenue moving to Car Wash USA Express near Big Lots. Current property now available for lease/purchase.

The Goo-Goo Car Wash location at 701 Shorter Avenue is available for lease or purchase.

There are some changes on the way for the local car wash market. The Goo-Goo Express Car Wash at 701 Shorter Ave. will be closing later this month with operations being moved to the Car Wash USA Express location at 2200 Shorter Ave., in front of the Gala Plaza and Big Lots. That location will be rebranded to Goo-Goo, according to Brian Dulaney, who sold his three Goo-Goo locations in Rome and one in Chattanooga to the International Car Wash Group, last October. The Car Wash USA Express at 2200 Shorter Avenue will soon be rebranded as Goo-Goo Express.

“ICWG plans on moving operations to Car Wash USA which they had purchased three years ago through the Zippys car wash group sales,” says Dulaney. “They bought the majority of our Goo-Goo stores in July of 2017 and completed the second phase of their Goo Goo acquisitions in October 2019 which included the stores in Chattanooga and Rome.”

There are no changes expected at the Goo-Goo Express locations on North Broad Street and Martha Berry Highway in Armuchee.

Dulaney retained the property at 701 Shorter Ave. and only sold the business and equipment to ICWG. However, the property is deed restricted for a car wash.

“We have several ideas which I cannot disclose as far as the future development of that valuable corner,” says Dulaney.

In the meantime, he has contracted with Harvey-Given Co. to lease or sell the property on Shorter Avenue.

According to broker Collin Doss with Harvey-Given, “This property is located on a corner lot, with a high traffic count. The property has a building that is easily converted into a warehouse space. The building has an office area and a bath. This property cannot be a carwash due to deed restrictions but would be great for a growing business in need of warehouse space or perfect for a car lot.”

Doss says the property will be available for new tenants by March 1.
