Quick background:

Bonny Askew, Jim Bojo and Mark Cochran won seats on the commission in the Nov. 5 election. Askew, a former commissioner, replaces Evie McNiece who did not stand for a new term representing Ward Three. Bojo and Cochran defeated Ward One incumbents Bill Irmscher and Milton Slack. Three commissioners represent each ward. The top-three vote getters win the three seats. In Ward Three, Bill Collins and Craig McDaniel won new terms.

The campaign was about change and Rome’s future.
