Mrs. Virginia Louise Wheeler, age 88, of Rome, GA, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Wheeler was born in Floyd County, GA on April 15, 1931, daughter of the late Lester Ingram and the late Plummer Allen Ingram. Mrs. Wheeler was a graduate of Model High School and was a former employee in the nutrition department of the Floyd County Extension Service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Paul J. Wheeler, by 2 sons, Regan Wheeler and Tim Wheeler, and by her siblings, Roland Ingram, Jim Ingram, Jack Ingram, Mae Thomas and Wanda Sue Ingram.
Survivor include a daughter, Gayle Touchstone (Keith), Armuchee; granddaughters, Kelli Hughes (Cody), Rachael Dempsey (Marcus), and Paula Wheeler Ross (Brian); grandson, Matthew Brooks (Ligaya), 2 great grandchildren Moszio and Zaddox Brooks; a sister, Joyce Fuller; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 11:30 am at the graveside in East View Cemetery. The Rev. Benny Kimble will officiate.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel on Wednesday from 10am until 11am. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence of the daughter in Armuchee.
Pallbearers serving are asked to assemble at 10:30am and include: Mike, Terry, and Jeff Wheeler and Dean Holcomb.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the Administrative Staff, Nurses, and CNAs, as well as Pruitt Hospice, for their care of Virginia.
Mrs. Debra North, age 67, passed away at a local hospital surrounded by her loving family. Wright Memorial Mortuary.
Paul Alan Allison, 83, died Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late Otis and Eula Bachelor Allison. Paul served in the Army, while stationed in Korea, and was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. He retired from Timken in Gaffney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Maudie Tessneer Allison; stepsons, James Crossley and Randy Lovelace; brothers, Otis Allison Jr., C.A. Allison, Leroy Allison, Charles Madison “Maddie” Allison, and James Allison; and sisters, Ola Catherine Martin, Doris Bright, and Betty Jean Childers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shelba Lovelace Allison, of the home; stepdaughter, Rita Beason and husband Don of Mooresboro; step-grandchildren, David, James, Rachel, and Heather; brothers, Ben M. Allison and wife Barbara of Blacksburg, and Yates Wayne Allison (manager of Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home) and wife Marilyn of Rome GA; sisters, Eula Mae Rippy of Blacksburg, Brenda Parker of Gaffney, and Kay Hardin of Blacksburg; 48 nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Dusty.
Funeral services will be held 3 pm Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Faith Baptist Church, with Dr. J. Barry Goodman and Rev. Johnny Owens officiating. The family will receive friends 1:30-3 pm, prior to the service, in the church. Burial will follow in Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg.
