Round 3 of GHSA State Football Playoffs on Friday:

  • Class 4A: Cartersville will host Woodward.
  • Tickets: The Canes will be facing Woodward Academy on Friday night at Weinman Stadium 7:30 pm. Pre-sale tickets available Monday from 10-1 p.m. and Friday from noon-3 p.m. at the Storm Center. Tickets are $12 each and $10 for CHS students (one ticket per student).
  • The game will be broadcast on WBHF 100.3 FM and AM 1450.
  • What’s next: Georgia High School Association did the coin toss for semifinals. Cartersville would host winner of the Blessed Trinity-West Laurens game in the semifinals with a win Friday night.

Dec. 7: The Harbin Clinic Jingle Jog benefiting the Tranquility House Domestic Violence Center set for Sam Smith Park in Cartersville. With a variety of activities for all ages, the Jingle Jog offers a 5K, Holiday Hustle Fun Run and Walk and a Dasher Dash where children ages 5 and under can chase Dasher the reindeer. Racers are also encouraged to dress up in their most festive costumes and participate in the Jingle Jog Costume Contest. Concluding the race, participants are invited to experience the Winter Village, a festival featuring local artists, holiday bites and a special appearance by Santa and his reindeer. Have your picture taken with Kris Kringle and give your bells a little jingle to commemorate this exciting event. Registration for the 5K race is $25, and Holiday Hustle is $15 prior to Sunday, Dec. 1. Registration on race day is $35 for the 5K and $25 for the One Mile Fun Run. The Dasher Dash is free to all children ages 5 and under. Race day registration begins at 8 a.m. and the awards ceremony wraps-up the event at 10:15 a.m. with times and results organized by Wire2Wire Running. Packet pick-up will be on Friday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Komatsu at 1515 E. Rome Half Marathon returns Dec. 14; also offers 5K race. GoGo Running All-Area Cross Country Banquet is Dec. 12. Registration is under way for the annual Rome Half Marathon to be held Saturday, Dec. 14,at State Mutual Stadium. In addition to the 13.1-mile Half Marathon, the event that is presented by GoGo Running and Redmond Regional Medical Center includes a 5-kilometer race.
