Obituaries: Mrs. Lillie Love, Mrs. Mamie Jo Muse Middleton, Mr. Charles Allen “Chuck” Nichols, Mr. Robert James Stark.

Mrs. Mamie Jo Muse Middleton, age 85, of Rome, GA, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019, in a local health care facility.

Mrs. Middleton was born in Whitfield County, GA on February 22, 1934, daughter of the late Raymond and Bessie Beatrice Morehead Muse.  She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Vernon and John W. “Doc” Muse.  Mrs. Middleton was a homemaker and was a member of Eden Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Joe Middleton, to whom she was married on February 16, 1968; a daughter, Vickie Sisson (Ben), Silver Creek; 2 sons, Danny Gillespie, Rome, and David Middleton (Susan), Rome; 8 grandchildren, Joseph Middleton (Tamatha), Rome, Derrick Middleton (Megan), Rome, Ben Gillespie, Acworth, Zach Gillespie, Acworth, Rev. Micca Gillespie (Kym), Lyerly, Matthew Middleton (Paulene), Rome, Mark Middleton, Silver Creek, and Whitney Posey (Ryan), Rome; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Morris, Armuchee; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.  Her grandson, the Rev. Micca Gillespie will officiate.  Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 1pm until the service hour.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday at 2:30pm.


Mr. Robert James Stark, age 84, of Rome passed away Friday, November 22, 2019. Mr. Stark was a Korean War Air Force Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Stark; sons, Robert, Timothy and Michael; sister, Mary Wharton; Grandchildren, Thomas Irby, Anna Irby, Jennifer Newhouser, Kristen Stefan, Joshua Stark, Jessy Stark, Jenna Stark, and Joy Stark; Great-Grandchildren, Ethan Stefan, Kaden Newhouser, Braxon Newhouser, Camden Newhouser, and Maddy Stark; Step-son, Ed Harris; Step-Daughter, Lois Walker; Step-Grandchildren, church friends and his Georgia Mountain Music friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Irby, and his Brother, Paul Stark.

The family will receive friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2 to 3 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 3 in the chapel of Daniel’s. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.


Mrs. Lillie Love, 84, of Rome, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Services are Incompelet at this time but will be announced at a later date. Wright Memorial Mortuary Inc.


Mr. Charles Allen “Chuck” Nichols, age 68, of Armuchee, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Nichols was born in Rome, GA on March 5, 1951, son of the late George Nichols and the late Mary Gussie Smith Nichols.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Elizabeth Byers Nichols, and by his sisters, Nancy Nichols, Martha Smith, Effie Nichols, and Nona Nichols.  Mr. Nichols was employed with Mohawk Industries as a receiving clerk and was a member of the City of Faith Christian Church in Chattanooga.  He fought the good fight, good and faithful servant.

Survivors include his son, Walter Wayne Hardegree, Armuchee; step-son, Joel Byers, Adairsville; brother, George Clinton Nichols, Rome; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.  Pastor Undra C. Finley will officiate.  Interment will follow in Morning View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Monday from 12:00 pm until the service hour.
