- “Brief Wintry Mix Possible in Far North Georgia Tuesday Morning: A strong cold will push across north Georgia early Tuesday morning, bringing widespread showers to the area. As temperatures rapidly fall behind the front, these showers could briefly transition to a wintry mix of sleet and snow in portions of far north Georgia.
- “While any wintry precipitation will come to a quick end through mid-morning, very light accumulations from a trace up to perhaps a quarter inch in the highest elevations are possible.
- “Additionally, lingering moisture on roadways could create patchy slick spots and black ice as temperatures fall to freezing.

Wind advisory from 1 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday: Northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
Freeze watch, 7 p.m. Tuesday-10 a.m. Wednesday for Floyd, Bartow, Polk and Chattooga counties: Subfreezing temperatures as low as 24 possible. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation; watch unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Watch out for Tuesday: First, we’ll see about a half inch of rain from late tonight into Tuesday morning. Next, if the forecast holds, we’ll only have a high of 40 degrees with sustained 15 mph winds and gusts to 40 mph. The wind chill could be brutal. We’re also looking at wind chills in the upper teens early Wednesday.
Hazardous weather outlook: A period of unseasonably cold temperatures is expected across the area Tuesday and Tuesday night. Temperatures of 15-25 degrees below normal are likely. A hard freeze is expected for the majority of the forecast area by Wednesday morning with temperatures in the 20s and low wind chills. This will pose a threat for anyone outside without proper protection from the cold.
