In context: Goodbye, Johnny’s; hello, Lyrikz. Big changes coming to the current home of Johnny’s New York Style Pizza on Broad Street. The complete new menu will be posted Monday but there’s a good overview below. The soft opening is Wednesday at 5 p.m. (with trivia), with the full opening on Thursday. It is part of a significant change to one of the top dining spots and bars in the red-hot 200 block of Broad Street.
This update from Bob Blumberg on this Friday afternoon:
“We believe in change and feel it is the appropriate time to change the theme and menu offering at our popular location on Broad Street.
“We are excited to share important news regarding the opening of “LYRIKZ.” The new concept will focus on delivering a traditional grill-type menu in an upbeat atmosphere. The name sets the stage for a music-themed restaurant highlighting artists and music-related pictures, signs, concert posters and any and all music-related memorabilia.
The menu will highlight traditional and popular items that are appropriate for both lunch and dinner. Customers in Rome enjoy a good meal at a reasonable price. Our menu will include creative appetizers, popular salads, unique burgers, chicken sandwiches, subs, wraps, fried seafood baskets, ultimate flatbreads and, of course, our famous wings.
Items such as Brazi Cheese Bread Bites, Buffalo Chicken Flatbread, Ring of Fire Burger, Blackened Chicken Sandwich and Shrimp and Clam Strip Baskets are just a few of the new offerings. Additionally, look for a creative cocktail menu and today’s most popular craft beers.
“After 10 great years as a Johnny’s New York Style Pizza franchise, we feel strongly there is a need for change. The pizza market has experienced dramatic changes with the popularity of the $5.99 to $7.99 pizza chains who provide an excellent product at an unbelievable price. Additionally, the decade-long decline in the pizza business has now resulted in burgers and chicken taking the top two spots in terms of popularity. With this as background, we feel the timing is right to make a change.
“We believe in Rome and Broad Street and hope to bring a fresh concept to continue to support the growth the city has experienced over the past ten years. Like us on Facebook at LYRIKZ.
