Signs of things to come in Rome at Turner McCall and Avenue A. Hometown photo.
The hotel has gone through a number of “flag” or name changes in recent years — and even gave up a wing of rooms to make way for Blue Fin, Jandy’s and others. Tuesday photo by Hometown.

OYO, a fast-growing chain in the states and no. 1 in India, is coming to Northwest Georgia. You’ve seen the signs off Turner McCall for several weeks anouncing “OYO coming soon.” A quick check shows the one-time Ramada/Country Hearth/Rodeway Inn is converting to OYO where rooms on Tuesday were renting for $28 per night.

The hotel is at 712 Avenue A in Rome and it is one of three in our market. Also: Ga. 140 in Adairsville (500 Georgia North Circle) and 1437 U.S. 41 in Calhoun

About the chain:

Launched in 2013, OYO is India’s largest hospitality company. Its network currently spans over 230 Indian cities including all major metros, regional commercial hubs, leisure destinations, and key pilgrimage towns. It also has an international presence with hotels in Malaysia and Nepal. The company’s vision is to become the most preferred and trusted hotel brand in the world.

Hiring is under way for Buffalo Luke’s, a new wings-heavy concept from the folks behind Cheeseburger Bobby’s, at the Calhoun location closed earlier this year. It will be at at 273 Ga. 53. The owner and manager have approached the city of Calhoun for alcohol permits as well. We have notes into the operators for updates, including an estimated opening date. Buffalo Luke’s will be the latest restaurant with a focus on wings. Already in town: World of Wings and Duke’s.
